The Music Ministry comprises members of youth, young adults, and adults with no age limit. It welcomes voices trained and not trained. Importantly, it is open to anyone who desires to praise God through song. Although the Co-Cathedral Choir splits up and sings at either the 8:00am or the 10:30am, cantors lead the other Eucharistic Celebrations at the Saturday 5:00pm, 6:15am on Sunday and 6:00pm on Sunday evening.
The 6:00pm Mass on Sunday evening is under the direction of Fay Pabo. Youth and young-adult singers and musicians lead this mass with their God-given talents. The Sunday morning Masses is under the direction of Bernie Gora. Bernie and Fay work together to have all choir members, instrumentalists, and cantors give their all to enhance the liturgy so the entire assembly responds enthusiastically to give praise to God!
In compliance of the mission of the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa, the music ministry strives to witness the gospel of Jesus Christ through their gift of music. Preparation and practice for various liturgies and outreach to the shut-ins with their music is their way to evangelize and respond to God’s call.
At choir practice, which is held on Monday evenings from 7:00pm to 8:30pm, members of the music ministry are encouraged to share experiences of how they live out their faith and Gospel values during reflections on the upcoming weekend’s liturgy. Sometimes, even silence is expressed as their way to pray for any intention being offered.
Rehearsal time provides an opportunity for members of the ministry to talk about their involvement in the wider community as well as their involvement in activities at the Co-Cathedral. Members are encouraged to assist at various parish events and to give of their time, talent and treasure in accordance with the gifts they have been bestowed with.
Anyone who is interested in becoming a part of the Music Ministry, either as a choir member, song leader or instrumentalist, may approach Bernie Gora or any of the music ministers before or after mass, or leave a message with the parish office at 521-1700.
