In keeping with the Mission Statement of the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, the catechetical ministry bear witness to Christ’s command to go and make disciples to all nations by echoing the Word of God through our words and actions and by providing opportunities to our children, youth, and adults to grow in their faith in Jesus.
In this ministry, catechists play an important role in the faith formation of children, youth and adults. When they teach, they strive to make our Christian faith known, celebrated, lived and expressed in prayer. They are assigned to different faith formation program in our parish. There are catechists who are assign to prepare the children, youth and adults for Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation. Some are involve in catechizing children, who, after receiving the sacraments of initiation desire to deepen their understanding of their faith-life and personal relationship with Jesus. While others teach baptism classes to parents and godparents for infant baptism. They also volunteer to do Bible Study, Parent Catechesis. office works and class substitutes.
Catechists come every Sunday at 9:15-10:15 from August to May to teach our children and on Thursdays for certification classes and meetings. They also attend scheduled retreats and conferences/workshops. They help in the registration at the beginning of the school year and in the preparation of liturgical celebrations of the Religious Education.
